How might we…

Garner support for the development of multiple skate spots throughout Boise communities? The existing problem involved navigating grant decision-making, securing approvals from neighborhood associations, and ensuring funding for these skate spot projects. Immersed in the dynamics of community and skate culture, my research aimed to understand the impact of skateparks and address the sentiments of both skaters and non-skaters. My intimate connection as a roller skater at skateparks added a unique perspective, emphasizing the need to celebrate inclusivity and resilience in creating an accessible skate culture for all in Boise.

The solution

The project strategically aimed to address these challenges by focusing on educating and gaining support from grant funders and neighborhood associations. Guided by BSA's core values, the solution involved streamlining skate spot development processes, securing approvals, and obtaining funding. Collaborating with Boise Parks and Rec, neighborhood associations, and grant funding organizations, the solution emphasized the development of multiple skate spots as small, versatile skate parks. This holistic approach aligned with intertwined business and marketing objectives, ensuring consistency in messaging and compelling stakeholders to support the skate spot projects.
